Danilo's Bridge
Two stone arches over a green river. Prince Danilo built this bridge in 1853 in memory of his father, and it still stands in the middle of the village.
An old stone bridge, a hill with a ruined fortress and a river that begins in a cave.
Start at the water. Stand on Danilo’s Bridge, the stone bridge Prince Danilo built, and look down at the river. Then walk up to Obod. Ivan Crnojević fortified this hill, and tradition says the printing press began here. A little further on, the river itself comes out of a cave. Finish above it all at Pavlova Strana, about 3 km up the road, where the river turns in a horseshoe bend.
Beyond the village, by boat or by car, are fishing villages, Kom monastery and the fortress of Žabljak Crnojevića: see Around Rijeka Crnojevića.
Each place has its story, the facts and the way to get there. Where sources disagree, we say so.

A ruined fortress, a rebuilt church and a room linked to the first Cyrillic book printed among the South Slavs. About 2.5 km from the village, the river itself comes out of a cave.

Here the river turns in a wide horseshoe bend. From Pavlova Strana you see the whole bend from above, with the lake behind it.
Built between 1810 and 1815 as the winter home of Petar I, this is the oldest building in the village. Rijeka Crnojevića grew up around it.
In the 1880s King Nikola built a winter palace at Ljeskovac. Today it has no roof, and its future is still undecided.
In 1905 King Nikola built the New Bridge, about 120 metres long. More than a hundred years later, it is still in use.

The river flows on to the lake, and the story of the Crnojevićs goes with it. These places are a boat ride or a drive away.
