Boat trips
Over a hundred years ago, steamers left the village for Virpazar and Skadar. Today smaller boats carry visitors down the same river.

No engine and no timetable. Just you, a paddle and a slow green river.
Picture the moment you push off from the bank. The reeds slide past at walking pace. The only sound is the drip from your paddle and, now and then, a bird in the lily beds.
After its first kilometre the river is navigable, and from the village it flows about 7 km to Skadar Lake. That makes it a good river for a kayak or a stand-up paddleboard (SUP). You set the pace. You stop when you want. You can get close to the reeds and water lilies, where a bigger boat cannot always go.
We could not confirm who rents kayaks or boards in the village. Ask locally, or look in the boat operators directory.
On 6 September 2026 the first “Rijeka doživljaja” (“River of experiences”) took place, as part of “Cetinje Outdoor”. One of its activities was an 8 km kayak and SUP route on the river. More than 150 people took part in the day. Read more on the event page.
The national park sets these kayak fees. They have not changed since 2023.
| Kayak | Fee |
|---|---|
| Single, per hour | €3 |
| Double, per hour | €5 |
| Per day | €20 |
Fees can change from season to season, so check before you go, on the national park page or at nparkovi.me. Park entry is €5 a day for visitors aged 15 and over.
